For years people have been traveling with out the protection of travel insurance coverages. But do you really need travel insurance or is this just another gimmick by all of the travel companies to make some extra dough off paranoid travelers? Well in light of all the things that can go wrong, and Murphy's Law proving itself time and time again, chances are everybody would greatly benefit from the protections offered by travel insurance.

Suppose you spend $1500 on a trip for two to San Diego. Your plane leaves late, you have a long layover, and your luggage is stolen. Not only that, but you somehow manage to contract a nasty flu virus in-between planes. This is where travel insurance will come in really handy. Not only will it cover delayed flights, lost or stolen luggage, sickness or accidents, you are also covered against a variety of other situations; such as natural disasters, death or dismemberment, auto collisions and others. In the crazy world we live in today I would always recommend spending the extra hundred bucks on travel insurance if for anything but to ensure that you have peace of mind during your next adventure.
